Introduction
"This is no feeble imitation, slave. We wear these colours as a challenge, knowing that the hollow mantle you have claimed for yourselves truly belongs to us. And we will prove it to you."
- Kresla, Knight-Malefactor of the True Children
The True Children, an unholy warband of the Slaves to Darkness, are my attempt to really push the narrative in my Age of Sigmar games.
Since I began Age of Sigmar in 2016, I've always tried to include at least a facade of narrative in my armies. However I have been conscious that I have never carved out a place for my little plastic warriors in the Mortal Realms. With the True Children I hope to build and grow the narrative, create characters, and infuse my games with a bit of narrative passion.
The story
The True Children were originally devotees of Sigmar, warriors who took up arms to defend their homes against Chaos. They had faith that Sigmar would save them, but he didn't. The Stormcast never came, their homes were burnt to the ground, and their loved ones murdered. Despair took them.
They were soon visited by a being who promised them the strength to take revenge on those that had abandoned them. From then on the True Children became Slaves to Darkness, consumed by their quest to destroy those proven unworthy of their worship and replace them as the truly deserving.
Goals
- Name my heroes, and go the extra mile. Titles, personalities, victories, and defeats. Keep a record.
- Forge the narrative. Grudge Stormcast players, focus on hated rivals, infuse my decisions with narrative flair. Record the interesting bits here for posterity.
- Have fun. Build a unique army that I can be proud of putting down on the table, and hopefully engage others with the narrative.
I should be making my first post soon, but until then remember: Death to the God-King!
